## Outputs
- Amount to bill
- Fee amount (included in the total)

Formula: `amount to bill = amount to net / (1 - rate)`

Example: to net $8,207.20 after a 3% fee: 8,207.20 / (1 - 0.03) = $8,461.03 to bill, of which $253.83 covers the fee.

Billing back a card-processing cost as a reimbursed expense is different from surcharging — charging extra specifically for the choice to pay by card, which is separately regulated and restricted or capped in some states. Confirm with your card processor's merchant agreement and your state's rules before billing either one.
